Reflective Narrative

Brief Reflection:

After the assignment, I started to look at desserts in a new way. I had never actually tried to compare a dessert with my identity before, but now I have begun to notice how different snacks could also be seen as a way to symbolize identity and meaning. For example, I was able to compare a simple sandwich to human traits it might symbolize and link it to different personalities based on its appearance.

If given another opportunity, I would analyze brownies. This is because chocolate is one of the things I love, and brownies are the perfect mix of chocolate in a baked bar. This delicious delicacy can also be topped to our liking, has a soft bite, tastes amazing, and, in my opinion, makes the perfect snack making it my next choice for analysis apart from the ice cream sandwich.

Reflect on the Revision Process

The feedback from my peer, Andrew, made me realize that I have presented my ideas effectively and provided detailed explanations for each section. Still, I needed to improve by making my writing more personal to better engage the reader. To achieve this, I decided to add several more lines on how the dessert connected with me personally and how I grew up eating it.

Yes, I was familiar with the dessert my peer review partner chose, as a Tootsie Pop is a candy I used to get pretty often when I went trick-or-treating. Although it is a good piece of candy, and I do enjoy eating it sometimes, I don’t think it should be ranked as highly as it was, in my opinion, since a lollipop is quite simple and not as satisfying as an ice cream sandwich may be when eaten. When I first saw it, I was surprised that something like a lollipop would be a person’s favorite dessert, but at the same time, I also had to acknowledge that different people have their preferences and that we all have our own sweet tooth for different sweets.
