Multimedia Content Analysis #9

Christmas is one holiday I deeply enjoy participating in. Normally it is celebrated by those who believe in Christ as it is the day Jesus was born. But some celebrate it for the fun of the holiday cheer and emotion.  Some don't believe in the religious aspects and may not celebrate the traditions either. Despite not being Christian, my family and I celebrate Christmas by taking the holiday to attend various events and by holding potlucks with our friends.

A Connection To Me

This holiday is about togetherness and joy which I find connecting to my identity as they are two things I value. My love for winter is also a reason for my excitement for this season apart from my birthday and Christmas all lining up in the same month. It is the joy I find in creating meaningful moments and cherishing the childhood memories that I believe formed my opinion on this particular holiday.

Traditions

Some typical traditions are decorating a Christmas tree, giving out gifts to each other, singing Christmas carols, putting up lights, and having a Christmas dinner. It's the time of year, the hype, the songs, the colors, and the season that I love the most. Me and my family don't really follow all the customs, but we have a different way of celebrating the day.

As a kid, my parents used to give me a present on Christmas and I would put out cookies and milk and stay up all night for Santa. Over the years, this turned into the day I looked forward to every year for the gifts despite knowing it was my parents giving them. We also have a tradition of going on drives to look at all the Christmas decorations in different neighborhoods as well as attending light shows. Although I may not be getting gifts for Christmas anymore, I still look forward to the day to perhaps watch a Christmas movie or spend time with my family.

Colors of Christmas

Traditional colors associated with this holiday are green and red, where red symbolizes the blood of Christ which relates to the origin of the holiday, and green represents the evergreen tree, symbolizing eternal life and hope. I find the colors help add the festive spirit to the season making it feel more warm and lively.
