Reflective Narrative
Brief Reflection:
In this weeks activities, I learned that power dynamics is shown in many parts of our everyday life. For example the level system in our video games, the levels of competitions, social hierarchies, and more. It is an important part of our daily lives too where many try to 'rise to the top'. Those who are at a higher level of power tend to have more control over those below them. This can be seen in sports, in games where the opposition is more powerful, and in many other current affairs such as in politics. In terms of my writing, I have realized that when writing anything, I should be mindful of the different people who may read my writing, regardless of whether it is someone of higher or lower authority. It isn't just about a social class, but also the ability for our words to make an impact on the reader which is one thing I sought to achieve. A well-written text could have the power to help those underpowered have their voice heard, while one that isn't so well would result in a loss of one's credibility, reducing the impact of what you want to express.
Reflect on the Revision Process:
I was given the feedback that my writing was good and that I could improve by providing another example of power dynamics besides the class struggle. Hence as suggested I decided to add another example of the honor system in the game and how it is related to power dynamics in the game. I believe different people have different meanings to how they want to describe power dynamics, as far as the review I received says, my blog post format and the one example that I gave along with the insight on how different audiences might relate were all liked by Justin. I assume that the opinions are similar to others who may come across my writings. I also noted that the readers prefer more than just one example to what I am describing so I will try to add more examples in my future pieces of work to increase the effectiveness of the points I am trying to convey.
