Reflective Narrative

Brief Reflection:

From this week's activities and readings, I learned about how some types of English such as African American English may not really be classified as good or bad English and in a way may not even be a type of English! It is also important that we learn how languages like African American English are used. I also learned that integration and juxtaposition can be compared to baking a cake where we have to integrate or combine the elements of a cake and use juxtaposition, which is how we add cake bites and frosting to the cake to make it better, all to make a final cake. Integration means combing elements of writing together, and juxtaposition is the placement of two contrasting words side to side to emphasize them.

Reflect on the Revision Process:

If I were given the opportunity to edit my writing, I would delete the repetition of the point I was trying to make in the first line of power dynamics where I was trying to emphasize the saying that jockeys hold more power and get more attention than the general audience. I would also elaborate more about power dynamics by describing a bit more on how gender has influenced sports and how photographers show their influence in the photo. I was also thinking of talking a bit more about what the photographer values based on the picture.
